By 1862 he met Monet, Bazille, among others while studying art in Paris. His opus were inspired by the work of painters such as Pissarro and Manet. Later on he would mount the first impressionist exhibition with some of the named before where he was able to show six of his paintings, in contrast of the exhibition unfavorable opinion, Renoir's work was well seen. In the second exhibition his paintings were into portraits so in that way he would commission more of them as a way of living.
Mme Charpentier and her Children painted in 1878 made him a famous and well-recognised painter.
He died at Cagnes-sur-Mer December the 3rd of 1919.
